A) Key Trends in Accelerating Education Technology Adoption in Schools
            1) Rethinking the Roles of Teachers
                        -Driving educational technology adoption in schools over the next one or two                                years
                        -Switch instruction to student center learning, different function of teachers
                        -Greater accessibility to the Internet sparks changes
                        -Teachers no longer the primary source of information.
            2) Shift to Deeper Learning Approaches
                        -Driving Ed. technology over the next one to two years.
                        -New emphasis in classroom on deeper learning approaches
                        -Project-based learning, problem based learning, inquiry based learning,
                        challenge-based learning
                        -Tablets and smartphones more readily accepted
                        -Learning by creating and doing will engaged
                        -Self directed projects where students think critically are mastering core content                            and beyond
                        -Leverage technology to produce products and extend learning experience beyond                        classroom

                        -Resolving intellectual property issues has been critical to supporting movement                             to OER
                        -CK-12 Foundation created free online-based app for educational material, that                             can be accessed by anyone
            4) Increased Use of Hybrid Learning Designs
                        -Next 3-5 years
                        -Teachers and students become more familiar with using the Internet
                        -Hybrid models when designed enable students to use school for groups and                                  projects and access readings and videos on their own time
                        -Report concludes that elementary and secondary students living in the US prefer                          hybrid
            5) Rapid Technology in Intuitive Technology
                        -Long Range: 5 or more years
                        -Idea of learners being able to have a natural interaction with their devices
                        -Nothing gets between the user and the information
            6) Rethink How Schools Work
                        -Long Range 5 or more years
                        -Focused movement to reinvent the traditional classroom and rearrange school                               experience

  1. I think the that increased use of technology in classrooms can be a good thing. However, I feel that too much can be detrimental to students.
